I have developed this Glassware for my own selfish reasons. Ever since I started shooting BW film with the Rolleiflex SL66, I found one thing to be very challenging: exposure metering. Most modern cameras have built-in in metering, but if you're using a more vintage camera, you will need the help of a hand-held light meter. In recent years, there have been many mobile light meter apps so I started using my cellphone. Still, the process is a bit clunky, I feel. Until I can log enough experience to be able to evaluate the scene accurately in my mind, I longed for something more intuitive, that doesn't interrupt my flow of capturing a shot.
The Glass seemed like a logical companion. With the Light Meter Glassware, it is constantly reading the light sensor while it's on and give the user recommendations on the shutter speed.
To start the glassware, you can use the voice command "Show measurements". Then, simply use the menu to set your film speed (ISO) and preferred aperture (F-Stop), then the Glassware will give you 3 shutter speeds, including one stop above and below your aperture setting.
If you don't interact with the Glassware, it will fade away automatically to conserve battery. When you need it, you can simply wake the Glass by touching the side touchpad or tilt your head up (if you have that feature activated). While it's on, just look around the scene and you'll get a sense of the exposure and what shutter speed you need.
